This year, the Duet wine was produced using a brand new barrel, which was again created especially for us by the Italian Garbellotto company. Like its predecessor, this new barrel only lightly alters the wine within, allowing it to retain the intense flavor of the grapes in the wine.

The Duet wine, which is considered to be one of the winery’s more recognized and popular wines, is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet varieties.  The wine’s color tends towards deep red-purple shades, and one can feel the Cabernet’s aromas together with the lightness and softness of the Merlot in its flavor. The wine leaves intense flavors, which remain on the palate even after drinking.

Production Process

The Merlot was harvested during mid-August, while the Cabernet was harvested in September. The grapes were harvested at sugar levels of 25-27 Brix, which meant long fermentation was required in order to extract all of the grapes’ sugars. Each variety is fermented independently. Upon completion of the Malolactic fermentation, the two were mixed, at a ratio of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, before being added to a special 2,000-liter wooden barrel. The blend was held in the barrel for a year. Prior to bottling, the blend received an addition of  5% Petit Verdot.
